QLD Flexi plate sizes: slimline vs regular

Updated 2 November 2026 · 4 minute read

Queensland personalised plates from PPQ (Personalised Plates Queensland) come in three widths and two heights. If you've ordered Prestige Flexi plates, the frameless acrylic ones, you'll need to work out which of the six sizes you have before you buy a bracket, holder or slimline number plate frame. This guide lists every size, explains slimline vs regular, and shows how to measure.

All six PPQ Flexi plate sizes

PPQ sizeCharactersPlate (W × H)Klampd frame (outside)
Size 3 Regular5–7372 × 134 mm≈ 384 × 146.5 mm
Size 3 Slimline5–7372 × 100 mm≈ 384 × 112.5 mm
Size 2 Regular3–4291 × 134 mm≈ 303 × 146.5 mm
Size 2 Slimline3–4291 × 100 mm≈ 303 × 112.5 mm
Size 1 Regular1–2161 × 134 mm≈ 173 × 146.5 mm
Size 1 Slimline1–2161 × 100 mm≈ 173 × 112.5 mm

Plate sizes are from PPQ's published Prestige & Flexi size chart. Size 1 (161 mm) plates are less common. Klampd frame sizes are approximate and include the slim 6 mm border.

Slimline vs regular: what's the difference?

Width is set by how many characters are on your plate. Height is the slimline or regular choice:

A 5–7 character slimline plate (372 × 100 mm, "Prestige 3 Slimline") is the most popular choice for a clean front plate.

Flexi vs framed Prestige plates

PPQ makes Prestige plates two ways. Framed plates come in a light aluminium frame with their own mounting bracket. Flexi plates are flexible acrylic with no frame, no bracket and no holes. PPQ's own method for Flexi plates is drilling the plate, and PPQ says double-sided tape will void the plate warranty. That's why frameless Flexi plates need a separate holder or frame if you don't want to drill or tape them.

Euro (520 × 112 mm) and motorcycle (184 × 95 mm) Prestige plates aren't made in Flexi, so they're not covered here.

How to measure your plate

  1. Lay the plate flat, face down, on a clean towel so you don't scratch it. Leave the black backing film on.
  2. Measure the width edge to edge across the longest side. It will be close to 161, 291 or 372 mm.
  3. Measure the height. It will be close to 100 mm (slimline) or 134 mm (regular).
  4. Match both numbers to the table above. If you haven't received your plates yet, your PPQ order confirmation shows the size.

Check the frame fits your car

A frame is slightly bigger than the plate. A Klampd frame adds about 12 mm to the width and 12.5 mm to the height, so a Size 3 Slimline plate needs roughly 384 × 112.5 mm of flat space. Measure your bumper's plate recess before ordering, and remember the frame is flat, so it suits flat or gently curved recesses best.

Which Klampd frame do I need?

Order the Klampd frame with the same size name as your plate. Every size is the same price: A$149 for a single frame or A$199 for a front + rear set, and you can pick different front and rear sizes. Shipping is free Australia-wide and every frame has a 30-day fit guarantee.

Klampd is an independent Brisbane brand and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by PPQ or the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Plate rules can change, so check your local rules before fitting.
